September 26-27th 2024 Zoltán Pámer and Balázs Brucker participated in the conference entitled ‘2nd CEE-LOC Conference 2024 Local Government Studies in Central and Eastern Europe’ in Zagreb. Zoltán Pámer gave a presentation on cross-border cooperation entitled ‘Comparison of territorial governance patterns of Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia, on basis of cross-border cooperation activity and funding allocation data of the 2014-2020 programming period’, while Balázs Brucker presented the results of his research with Ilona Pálné Kovács entitled ‘The city diplomacy activities of Budapest and Warsaw between 2019 and 2023: Bypassing the central governments?’, as part of the new OTKA project ‘Local government diplomacy in the international space’. Their presentation focused on activity of the city alliance ‘Pact of Free Cities’, launched in 2019 by the four capitals of the Visegrad Cooperation (“little Visegrad”), and examined cities finding their way in the international arena through the example of Warsaw and Budapest.
