A book chapter co-authored by Gábor Héra has been published in Handbook on Methods in Restorative Justice Research (Brill).
The chapter “Investigating Restorative Justice through Participatory Action Research” explores action research as a participatory methodology for examining restorative justice and related practices. Héra and his co-author Katrin Kremmel reflect on the challenges of translating the principles of participatory research into their own practice during a four-year action research project on restorative justice processes. They pay particular attention to the difficulties of entering the field as outsiders, navigating local micro-politics and power relations, and – most importantly – facilitating change.
