At the end of December 2024, the three-year Romanian-Hungarian Academic Researcher Mobility Programme, entitled ‘The relationship between innovation ecosystem and creative industry in the development of regional centres’, will finish. The geographical focus of the research is the regional centres of Romania and Hungary, with two case study: Cluj-Napoca and Pécs. The primary objective of the research is to present the innovation ecosystem, cultural and creative industries in the regional centres. The impacts on urban development will be analysed from the perspective of the creative economy, as well as their spatial patterns within the city and the effects of urban development policies. The secondary objective of the research is to examine the new forms of work related to the digitalisation of the economy, analysis of development policy documents and strategies related to digitalisation.
The project has resulted in a number of joint conference presentations, joint sessions, and joint publications, as well as one field trip per year to Pécs and to Cluj-Napoca.
