The ‘Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) Annual International Conference 2025’ was held in Birmingham between 26-29 August.<\/span><\/span> The main theme was “creativity in geographical research”.<\/span><\/span> Interesting and intensive work took place in 641 sections, and in addition to the sections, the program was also enriched by a poster exhibition, ongoing discussions in preparation for tenders, personal meetings with book and document publishers, and museum visits.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Two researchers from our institute took part in the conference with presentations: D\u00e1vid Nagy gave a presentation entitled “The Economic and strategy role of Danube freight transport and its ability to adapt to current challenges” in the “Transport geographies” section, on the use of the Danube as a waterway and the possibilities for further use.<\/span><\/span> R\u00e9ka Horeczki presented her study in the “Regional Development” section, co-authored with Ern\u0151 Moln\u00e1r, G\u00e1bor Pirisi, and J\u00e1nos P\u00e9nzes: “Converging or lagging behind European peripheries? Spatial inequalities in post-millennial Hungary through the lens of local-level GDP estimations”.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
